the Difference Between Custom and Bespoke Rings
custom Engagement Rings
Our Custom Design Service allows you to customise one of our signature designs with a gemstone of your choice.
Pictured is our Elspeth setting, customised with a pear shaped Lab-Grown Alexandrite.
Any of our designs can be customised - simply let us know the centre stone type (e.g. sapphire or salt and pepper diamond) and shape you'd like, and we'll do the rest!

bespoke Engagement Rings
Our Bespoke Design Service takes it one step further, allowing for complete freedom (within reason!) to design the ring of your dreams.
Choose a centre stone from our gemstone vault, or we'll source one to your specifications from one of our trusted suppliers. Add accent stones (or not!) and the metal of your choice, and voila!

Design & sourcing: approximately 1-3 weeks, depending on availability of centre stones that suit your specifications
CAD model creation: please allow 24-72 working hours
Please note, CAD models cannot be completed until stones are received from our suppliers, in order to accurately measure all dimensions.
Crafting your custom ring: usually around 6-8 weeks
Good to Know
Once complete, your ring will go through our thorough quality control checks, be photographed by our in-house team, and be shipped to you, or prepped for collection from our Sheffield showroom.

Crafting your bespoke ring: usually around 8 weeks, however could be up to 10 weeks for more complex designs and setting requirements

heirloom & vintage re-models
For those looking for rejuvenate an inherited or pre-loved piece, or re-work a well-loved piece into a more modern design, we accept heirloom and vintage re-model projects on a case-by-case basis. Working with sentimental gemstones takes extra love and care, and to give your piece the longevity it deserves, we only work with certain gemstones that can stand the test of time.
The Heirloom Remodel Process
Gathering Details
Send us a detailed image of the piece you would like to re-model, along with any design ideas you have, and an ideal budget. Any details about the gemstone type and size are also incredibly helpful!
Please note, we do not offer re-model services for gemstones under 3.00mm in diameter, or soft gemstones such as opal, pearl or other organic and semi-precious gemstones.
Please note that the original metal from the item will not be used and will be replaced with new metal.
Inspection of Your Gemstones
In order to confirm we are happy to use your gemstones in a new piece of jewellery, we will need to inspect your item(s) in person. You can send them to us by post, or book an appointment and leave your item(s) with us for inspection.
Gemstone Assessment and Pricing
Our design team and/or bench jeweller will assess the condition of the gemstones to ensure we can confidently unset and reset them into a new piece without risking damage. We will also measure your gemstones in situ, and provide a guide price for your chosen design.
Please note, the most accurate way to measure gemstones is after they have been removed from their setting. Therefore all measurements taken whilst in situ are approximate only and may need to be amended after the unsetting process.
Confirming Your Remodel and Design Service Fee
If you choose to proceed with your re-model, we will ask you to purchase our non-refundable Design Service fee of £195 upfront. We can then commission a CAD model of your new piece!
Final Design Approval and Order Placement
Once you're happy with your design and final quotation, you can place your order via our website using the private link set up and emailed to you by our design team.
Crafting and Quality Control
Our specialist casting house and stone setter will craft your piece in around 6-8 weeks, and it will go through our strict quality control checks and be photographed by our resident product photographer.
Delivery or Collection
Your re-modelled piece, alongside any remaining stones and settings from your original jewellery, will be shipped to you or prepped ready to be collected from our Sheffield showroom.

Understanding Fees
Just like our Custom and Bespoke Services, we charge a non-refundable fee of £195 for custom designs and £340 for bespoke designs. See conditions above to understand which category your re-model design would fall under
Gemstone Suitability for Remodels
We do not work with gemstones considered too soft for frequent wear, including opals, pearls, or gemstones with a hardness of 6.5 or less. If you're unsure whether your gemstone(s) fit the criteria, please email us on ruby@jessicaflinn.co.uk with as much detail as possible.
Please note, if your gemstone(s) do not meet our criteria we may have to decline a re-model project.
Recommended Timeline
Due to the nature of re-model projects, we recommend you allow up to 12-16 weeks from start to finish. The additional time allows us to inspect your item(s) thoroughly, and take extra care when handling your sentimental pieces.
