the rise and rise of 14ct gold

The rising price of gold has undoubtedly had a significant impact on the jewellery industry in recent years. At Jessica Flinn Fine Jewellery, we have adapted to this changing landscape by embracing alternative metals and innovative solutions, such as the increasing use of 14ct gold in the UK market.

14ct gold, which has long been popular in the US, is becoming increasingly popular among British jewellers, including industry veterans like Andrew Geoghegan and Annoushka Ducas. It offers a more affordable alternative to 18ct gold without sacrificing quality. In fact, the higher proportion of other metals in 14ct gold compared to 18ct gold means it has superior hardness, which benefits stone setting and offers unique colour hues.

At Jessica Flinn Fine Jewellery, we recognised the importance of giving our customers choice and versatility in their jewellery selections. We first started introducing 14ct gold in 2018, and now it accounts for 15% of all Ready to Wear pieces. We have observed a significant increase in the demand for 14ct gold, with our sales of 14ct gold pieces rising by 266.67% from 2021 to 2022. So far this year, we have already seen a strong demand for 14ct gold rings and forecast another 154.55% increase in 2022.

In response to this growing trend, we are introducing 14 new pieces into our ready-to-wear collection, which will account for 13% of the entire collection. These additions will further expand our 14ct gold offerings, ensuring we meet the evolving preferences of our clientele.

Additionally, we are proud to be taking an ethical approach in our use of 14ct gold. Our 14ct gold is 100% recycled, making it a more environmentally friendly choice for our customers. Although it is currently not possible to achieve the same level of recycling for platinum, our commitment to ethical practices ensures that we continue to explore ways to minimise our environmental impact.

In recent years, we have noticed a rising trend of more conscious consumers, particularly in the wake of the global pandemic. As people emerge from these challenging times, they are becoming more thoughtful about their spending habits, seeking to ensure that their purchases align with their personal values and ethics.

This shift in consumer mindset is evident in the increasing demand for ethically sourced and environmentally friendly products, including jewellery. At Jessica Flinn Fine Jewellery, we have made a concerted effort to provide options that cater to the values of these conscious consumers. By offering 100% recycled 14ct gold and focusing on ethical sourcing, we demonstrate our commitment to meeting the needs of customers who prioritise sustainability and ethical practices.

We also recognise that many consumers are being more cautious with their finances post-pandemic. The introduction of 14ct gold in our collections provides a more affordable option for those seeking luxury jewellery without compromising on quality or their ethical principles. This increased accessibility, combined with our commitment to ethical sourcing and environmental responsibility, ensures that our offerings meet the diverse needs and values of our clientele in a post-pandemic world.

As the trend of conscious consumerism continues to rise, Jessica Flinn Fine Jewellery is committed to providing high-quality, affordable, and environmentally responsible options that resonate with our customers' values. By expanding our product offerings, championing ethical practices, and being mindful of the financial impact of the pandemic on consumers, we remain at the forefront of the jewellery industry in meeting the evolving preferences and needs of our clientele.
