surrounded by sunflowers: a unique and heartwarming proposal story

Kate and Lisa's story is one that has stuck with us here at Jessica Flinn Fine Jewellery, and we're so happy to share it with you all! This proposal story is so heartwarming and unique, and best of all involves a gorgeous furry friend!

Let's start at the beginning. The gorgeous couple first met at the bar Lisa was managing at the time, and were good friends for 6 years before their relationship blossomed into romance. Fast forward to 2021, and Kate and Lisa got in touch with our team to create beautiful bespoke rings for one another. They were both involved throughout the design process, and were guided by Olivia during showroom appointments and over email.

"We felt at ease, and not pressured to make any decisions on the spot. Olivia made us feel like she was genuinely interested in our journey, and worked hard to design our perfect rings"

Lisa chose a stunning cushion cut salt and pepper diamond with a dainty halo, set in platinum, and Kate chose an Art Deco style emerald cut salt and pepper diamond and white baguette diamond design, also set in platinum.

After a gruelling few weeks of waiting for their rings to be ready and arriving back from their holiday, Kate got in touch with Olivia about her proposal plans. She asked us to tell Lisa a little white lie (sorry Lisa!), making her believe that there was a delay with her ring and it wasn't ready just yet. In secret, we dispatched Lisa's ring to Kate, so she could use it in her surprise sunflower field proposal.

Kate took Lisa to her favourite place, the gorgeous sunflower field in the images above, before it opened, and had arranged for their photographer friend to lay in wait until just the right moment.

Kate called their beautiful fur-baby Teddy over to Lisa to get a photo of them, and to Lisa's surprise, Teddy was wearing a white collar with a tag that read "Marry my mummy?" That's when the tears started to flow, and of course a huge YES!

Disguised in camouflage gear and waiting in the wings, the photographer caught their special moment perfectly. The overjoyed couple then enjoyed taking photos among the sunflowers, grabbed a bacon butty and a cup of tea, before heading over to a fancy hotel for champagne and celebrations!

This perfectly planned and executed proposal is one for the Jessica Flinn history books, and congratulations to the wonderful couple that is Kate and Lisa, who are now married! We were honoured when they decided to come back to us for their wedding rings, opting for Dee and Flora to perfectly complement their engagement rings.

We absolutely love being a part of these beautiful stories, especially when it's an LGBTQIA+ story. We know how difficult it can be for some couples even in 2023, to feel comfortable buying engagement and wedding rings without judgement. We want these couples to feel supported, and know that at Jessica Flinn they will be treated in exactly the same way as any other couple we welcome into our business. We strive to be inclusive and caring towards anyone we work with, and will continue to encourage others to do the same.

Thank you so much Kate and Lisa (and Teddy!) for including us in your journey, and congrats on getting hitched!

"We had followed JF online for a few years before we were ready to choose rings, so we hadn't considered anyone else as we knew it would be a great fit."

We asked Lisa and Kate if they had to describe their Jessica Flinn rings in three words, what would they be?

"One-of-a-kind, individual, quality"
