Showing Up As Allies: My Unforgettable Experience at TikTok Pride In Full Colour Webinar

Hello guys, gals, and non-binary pals! I'm Jessica Flinn-Allen, and if you've been following my journey with Jessica Flinn Fine Jewellery and Flinn And Steel, you'll know that my mantra is all about pushing boundaries. And that's precisely what I got to do during the fabulous TikTok Pride in Full Colour webinar recently.

The Vibrant Tapestry of TikTok Pride In Full Colour

Let's spill the tea, shall we? TikTok put together a two-part webinar series, TikTok Pride In Full Colour, aiming to explore how small businesses could illuminate their brands while championing the LGBTQ+ community. And guess who was among the speakers? Yours truly!

TikTok truly pulled out all the stops for this one. They married community power, storytelling, and a commitment to inclusivity, showcasing the LGBTQ+ community's unique perspectives and voices. It was the perfect platform for us allies to strut our stuff, and I was thrilled to be part of this amazing initiative.

A Tale of Two Webinars

The series kicked off on May 31st, with the theme "From Ally to Advocate: How Businesses can Stand with the LGBTQ+ Community on TikTok". The focus was on authenticity, support, and inclusivity. I was honoured to share the virtual stage with George Gorg and a team of TikTok experts. We chatted about creating resonant content, amplifying LGBTQ+ voices, and the best practices for building an inclusive brand.

The second act of the series took place on June 14th, with the central theme being "Keeping the Allyship Alive: Strategies for Brands to Continue Supporting LGBTQ+ Voices". This leg continued to keep the conversation alive about allyship and inclusivity.

Weaving My Tale of Allyship

During the webinar, I had the fantastic opportunity to share my journey and ideas with an enthusiastic audience. We spoke about the importance of understanding our privilege, establishing Moral Pillars, the art of showing up as an ally on TikTok, breaking beauty standards, owning up to our mistakes, and harnessing the power of SMEs to make a difference.

A Vision of Inclusivity

A significant highlight was when I spoke about our recent photoshoot with LGBTQIA+ models from Zebedee Talent. We questioned gender norms and celebrated the diversity within the LGBT community. It was a testament to the fact that inclusivity isn't just a trend, but an absolute must, darling!

An Ongoing Journey

While the TikTok webinar might have wrapped up, our mission has not. We are committed to creating a space that is inclusive and fair for all. We must keep learning, growing, and sashaying our way towards progress.

In a nutshell, the TikTok Pride In Full Colour Webinar was a resounding success! It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with like-minded people, share experiences, and build a network of allies. But the work doesn't stop here, and it's time to roll up our sleeves and continue the fight for equality.

So, let’s do this! Sashay Away! If you have any questions about how to become an ally or want to share your own experiences, feel free to get in touch.
