Every Iconic Sex and the City Engagement Ring—And What They’re Really Worth!

To celebrate the imminent release of the third season of the Sex and the City sequel, And Just Like That, we thought we’d take a little trip down memory lane, looking at all the engagement rings of our four fave New Yorkers! Whether you’ve been a fan since day one or you’re a recent SATC convert, you’ll know just how outlandishly stylish the ladies of the show are, and their engagement rings are no exception!

After a pretty underwhelming first proposal where Charlotte’s marriage suggestion was met with Trey’s monotone “alrighty”, it was only fitting that the Park Avenue Princess herself got a redo when Trey took her ring shopping at Tiffany & Co. Ever fitting for her classic style, Charlotte’s engagement ring from Trey is a quintessential Tiffany round cut solitaire diamond of 2.17 carats set on a traditional platinum band. With its timeless design, desirable carat weight, and what appears to be exceptional clarity, we’d estimate that Charlotte’s engagement ring from Trey would have cost around $30,000!

Carrie was less than impressed when she stumbled upon Aiden’s first choice of engagement ring (picked with a little help from Miranda) featuring an approximately 3 carat pear cut diamond set on a delicate geometric yellow gold band. While we absolutely love this vintage-esque combo, it seems that Carrie was after something a little more modern and sleek (as we’ll see with her other engagement rings). With the antique design features and sizeable diamond, we have placed Carrie’s first engagement ring from Aiden at $20,000.

After the disaster of her first engagement ring from Aiden, her second engagement ring was much more her style! The upgraded ring featured a stunning 5 carat asscher cut diamond, set on a simple, sleek platinum band. The solitaire engagement ring style is perfect for Carrie, allowing her to express her unique style without having to share too much of the spotlight with her ring. However, it was the beginning of the end for Carrie and Aiden when she decided to wear the ring on a necklace instead of on her hand so it would be “closer to her heart” — ever the trendsetter! We have estimated that this ring cost Aiden around $50,000, an upgrade indeed!

While this one isn’t technically an engagement ring, we couldn't help but include it in the list! Possibly the most jaw-dropping ring of the whole series, Samantha’s ‘apology present’ from her cheating boyfriend Richard features an enormous (approximately 7 carat) canary yellow diamond flanked by two (also pretty sizeable) white diamonds, all set on a luxurious yellow gold band. We doubt Sam’s hotel mogul boyfriend spared any expense when he purchased this ring, and we have placed its value at a whopping $500,000.

Being the anti-romance, straight-shooter she is, Miranda popped the question to Steve over cheap beers at a local bar, meaning there wasn’t ever actually an engagement ring! However, after the two tied the knot in an intimate ceremony at a local community garden, she can be spotted sporting a simple yellow gold wedding band. The band, featuring a cool, slightly chunky design detail is the perfect fit for Miranda’s no frills style and attitude. We would estimate that the simple wedding band cost Miranda and Steve around $1,500 to $2,000.

After Charlotte’s tumultuous marriage to Trey, she finally found true love in Harry, her divorce lawyer. As possibly the most moving proposal in the show's history, Harry got down on one knee and declared his everlasting love to Charlotte with an absolute corker of an engagement ring! Said to be designed to look like Elizabeth Taylor’s ring from Richard Burton, Charlotte’s bespoke ring features a 5 carat emerald cut white diamond, paired with two trilliant cut side diamonds. Charlotte certainly got her happily ever after and a ring to match, as we have estimated this ring to be worth around $125,000!

Another one which doesn’t actually qualify as an engagement ring, Samantha’s ring from Smith Jerrod is pretty memorable nonetheless, and is just as meaningful as an actual engagement ring. The massive diamond studded flower ring was first revealed in the first movie when Samantha and the girls attend a silent auction. After losing to a secret buyer, we thought we’d seen the last of the floral beauty! However, later on in the film, Smith gives Sam the ring as a declaration of his love, so we couldn’t help but include it. Although their relationship wasn’t meant to be, the ring certainly left a lasting impression. The ring itself features a bold floral design, studded with white diamonds and is set in opulent platinum, which is why it's worth approximately $50,000.

Six seasons and two movies later, we finally get to see what kind of engagement ring the ever-inscrutable Mr. Big would buy for Carrie. Sarah Jessica Parker actually helped design the ring herself, so you know it's the perfect encapsulation of Big and Carrie’s relationship. Unconventional yet timeless, the 5 carat black diamond engagement ring was definitely worth waiting for! When explaining his choice of a black diamond, Big tells Carrie, “Because you’re not like anyone else.” Love him or hate him, there’s no denying—he always knew how to deliver a smooth line!
