TOURMALINE, IT'S YOUR TIME TO SHINE
We're predicting that tourmalines are going to be the next big engagement ring trend for budget conscious budding fiancés this winter. Bold, bright and bursting with colour, tourmalines are much more affordable than their sapphire siblings, making them an attractive option for those who want to pop the question.
Over the past six months 20% of our customers have chosen the intense shades of tourmalines over traditional sapphires. As more consumers become budget conscious, we think you could save £500-1000 by choosing a tourmaline in place of a similar quality sapphire.
SIDE STEPPING TRADITION
WHAT IS A TOURMALINE?
Tourmalines are celebrated as the most colourful of all the gemstones. They range from traditional blues and greens, to yellows, pinks and even multi coloured gemstones, and are mostly found in Brazil and Africa.
Although tourmalines don’t boast the same hardness as diamonds and sapphires on the MOHS scale of mineral hardness (which are 10 and 9 respectively), they’re ranked at 7.5, which is similar to morganites and aquamarines, making them great for everyday wear.
